Why did we create Chess 1475?
We noticed a massive gap in online chess education. Most players spend hours scrolling through chess videos, but they still struggle to calculate variations, choose the right move, or form a concrete plan under pressure. Video clips don't teach you how to think.

Why the name Chess 1475?
Our name is rooted in chess history. In 1475, a game between Francesc de Castellví and Narcís Vinyoles was recorded. The game began with the moves 1.e4 d5, which today is known as the Scandinavian Defence (back then, people called it the "Center Counter Defence"). This game is the earliest documented chess game played with "modern" rules of chess.
Before the late-fifteenth-century, the queen was totally passive. She could only move one square. However, for the first time in a recorded game, the queen was given long-range power which helped turn chess into the faster, more tactical game we all know today. The long and short of it, is that we chose to name our site after this game, because this game was the turning point of how chess changed the world, forever!
