We have all official chess openings loaded on our system. As you play on the board, the app quietly watches your opening moves. When you play — deliberately or by happy accident — a sequence that matches a real, historically recognised chess opening or gambit, you will then find an opening and your counter will increase by one. Some openings have been hand picked by Chess 1475 that are Wild Cards. These are just important openings that we believe every chess player needs to know and master. If you find a wild card, it will get added to your Suitcase and it will stay there permanently.
Common
The bedrock openings. Played in millions of games across every level. Easy to unlock, genuinely useful to know.
Rare
Sharper, more specialised systems favoured by ambitious players who prefer imbalance over comfort. Worth more points to find.
Legendary
Unconventional, bold, historically fascinating openings. Some are rarely played. All of them earn serious points.
